DIY XMAS – Create your own bespoke metallic Christmas cards

Our gift tags worked out so well in Friday’s blog post that I thought it’d be nice to do a matching set of greetings cards using gold and silver stickers.
As a basis for my greetings cards I’m using some blank metallic lustre finished cards from Homecrafts Direct:
They come with matching gold and silver envelopes. I’m going to cut some simple Christmas images and text to apply to the cards. Here’s my artwork; the sheet on the left is for the silver cards and the sheet on the right for the gold cards:
The sticker products I’m using are:

Here’s how my finished sticker sheets turned out:
Now to apply some to the cards. The simple shapes like the Christmas tree can be applied by straight by hand:
However, for the more complex designs it can be helpful to use masking tape as an application layer to keep everything in one place. Here’s how I’m going to apply the ‘Happy Christmas’ christmas tree text:
Using strips of wide masking tape I can lift all the letters in one go:
And apply them in the right place:
Once the whole strip is stuck down you can pull off the tape leaving all the stickers in the right place:

As a finishing touch I’m going to add a metallic bow to seal the back of the envelope:
